Tangentially related to the last reblog, I saw someone claim that a white woman has an equal amount of rights and social standing as a black man and that has always rubbed me the wrong way.
A white woman, while OBVIOUSLY still a victim of oppression due to the roles a patriarchal society will force on her due to her gender, does not usually get an unwarranted arrest because the cop was feeling bored that day.
Your average white woman is not being accused of doing drugs or smuggling weed or being some sort of criminal solely because of the way she looks.
Your average white woman isn't branded a "thug" just because of her skin color, the brands she wears, and the ways she walks and/or talks.
Your average white woman is not getting gunned down in the streets or choked or beaten and battered and bruised by cops because they were "scared" and "concerned."
The truth is that even if you are a white person who is a member of an oppressed group (queer, neurodivergent, physically disabled, etc, etc,) you will get way more rights and privileges than the average black man, subjected to so much scrutiny and so many accusations because of the color of their skin. Even if it's literally just subtle things you would not be keen to, because maybe you never experienced someone who has to live without it, you still have it, and that's ALWAYS important to remember.
