he’d long since had the MISFORTUNE of being on record with the institute ( and somehow changing his number seemed rude ) it made him available to their whims on the occasion he actually picked up. as far as most of them were concerned a downworlder could be either a CONVENIENCE or an OBSTRUCTION and as much as he’d like to make a menace of himself, he liked this city. he liked his apartment. he really like pandemonium. ( and the notion of leaving any of those things behind didn’t sit well with him ) so he answered when he felt he HAD to and he offered aid when it seemed crucial, and in return the nephilim left his bar alone ( most of the time ) and on the rare occasion he had NEED of them ( with as much reluctance as possible from both parties ) they’d send someone. her for instance. ❝ and here i’d imagined you didn’t go anywhere without your companions. ❞
it’s his roundabout way of being SNIDE about the herondale boy while also asking where the other was. he’s capable of subtlety it’s just that he often doesn’t AGREE with the nature of it. in this case, however, he had needed assistance, and as much as he’d like to inquire about alec, he’d leave it for when more bloodshed didn’t seem so likely. ❝ i hope they warned you about the mess. ❞ he made a SWEEPING gesture toward the backroom to his club and the body splayed out and drained. as far as he’s concerned, a warning wasn’t quite required anyway ( no doubt the nephilim had seen WORSE things ) ❝ i found her this morning when the STENCH attracted the attention of one of my employees. i don’t take a particular kindness to guests who take advantage of my hospitality. ❞

❛ has it occurred to you HOW much trouble we’re in? just curious. ❜ it’s clear he means their two newest additions, and as much as alec hated sounding like a broken record he felt the need to do so thanks to the apparent fact that he was the only one who had an issue with this. the occurrence of a random shadowhunter was impossible enough, but letting her little mundane friend into the institute too was beyond just breaking rules. now it was more like stomping the rules into dust and spitting on them. ( he’s a little stressed ). ❛ you get to explain it all to mom. ❜

LEATHER & LACE marched together across her skin, fitted so close as to be a part of her, framing her in, adding edges and curves to places she was pretty sure ( & knew ) there were none, or —- maybe, it was just ISABELLE, the spirit of her all sharp and sleek ( & beautiful, & lethal ) reflected in every ounce of clothing she owned. izzy was the kind of girl clary might have immortalized in memory ( & sketch ) if she’d seen her strutting down a busy new york street in her ankle-breaking stilettos, comfortable confident as any wild cat on the prowl —- because how could you not want to admire someone like that —- ? want to emulate it even.
but, uh —- emulate and borrow something from my closet were two different levels of daring, and at present, clary was second - guessing izzy’s judgement so, so hard.
‘ izzy —- i know you said demons like a little skin but, i don’t think this outfit... -- works for me the way it works for you.’ she turned away from the mirror, tossed a half-skeptical look back over her shoulder at isabelle. ‘ are you sure this is what bait looks like? ’
@callfcrbackup
‘ so WHAT’S with the mundane again? it seems both extraneous and infuriating to drag him around everywhere while also protecting him. ’
