Immediately, she can sense the name doesnât recall any favor. Not that sheâd expected it to - hell, sheâs only HERE because of Camilleâs well-deserved malicious reputation. At his curt reply, her cool edge s h i f t s with her weight, chin lifting in s t e e l y desperation.
â Not - because you OWE her. â
Her frustration mounts quickly, uncertainty overriding the stakes she has vested in him. Hoping for assistance from one MAGNUS BANE is a longer shot than confronting Camille alone and expecting anything less than absolute d e s t r u c t i o n ⌠but long shots seem to be her M.O.
   â Because you k n o w her. âÂ
The t w i s t e d , sordid history between them was relatively unknown to Rose, but that didnât meant sheâd missed the feeling. Youâd be hard-pressed not to find a vampire who hadnât heard the rumors about the two: most fantastical, even by Downworldersâ standards. Resolute, she straightens, arms crossed and eyes hardened.
â Sheâs got - someone of m i n e - someone of hers, previously, I guess, but I donât need to tell YOU how fickle Camille can be. â
A huff, and sheâs returned to herself, hair slipping off her shoulder as she tilts her head.
â Iâm not looking for a warlock; Iâm looking for a jilted lover. Or any lover, really; I donât know how many centuries someone can hold a grudge before itâs just depressing. â
his fingers UNFURLED against the doorframe but didnât relinquish their hold on it  (  a cage keeping both on either side with no hint on which of them were prisoner  )  it was true his history with her was a rich one in misfortune  (  though it would be a lie to deny there werenât better times, too  ) Â
but she'd been capable of unpleasant things back before sheâd become the leader of the vampires in his city and now he had no doubt her ability to make his life DIFFICULT were he to invite it upon himself  (  he had enough trouble with vampires as it was  )  and he leant forward out of pandemonium with his brows drawn into a furrowed line, and his lips hitched on a question.Â
â and despite the nephilim being rife in this city, youâve come here â â
when had he become the middle ground between downworlders and shadowhunters alike? it certainly wasnât a POSITION heâd put his hand up for  (  in fact heâd prefer to take as little part as possible  )  heâd offered his aid over dozens of lifetimes and itâd never worked out well for him. itâd left him with few allies and entire cities where his name was not welcome. perhaps heâd brought it on himself. heâd been too accommodating and too well known. heâd sullied his hands with blood and heâd shouted at the angels.Â
but itâd all been for a CAUSE no one was willing to fight.
(  now there were too many armed for too few causes  )
