It feels weird to say that life returns to normal after they did what they did. Should there even be a normal after that? He has dreams, sometimes, of blood in his teeth and claws and fur, of the sickening rush of adrenaline, and then he wakes, and life is normal again.  There’s an incident at a bank, and between their heightened senses and increased strength, Buck and Eddie are able to get them all out of there with minimal drama. He hates to think how it would have gone down if they hadn’t ‘happened’ to discover the money hid on their very own engine. Instead, it’s mostly resolved before they’ve even left the scene.  It’s good, healthy probably, to have a reminder that they can use these abilites for good. That they can stop this in its tracks before warrants get issued, or they get dragged in for interviews. Eddie just has to feign a little confusion about who the firefighter messing with their truck was loudly enough for the police to hear and search the vehicle. The engine often carries the scent of random civilians, the nature of driving through the city to help all sorts of people, but the equipment bags?

With Hen fully recovered from her brush with scorpion venom, the whole event is quickly relegated simply to Chim talking through various heist scenarios with them all as they pull up at the station.  “I would prefer we weren’t called in, thank you Chimney,” says Bobby pointedly, undercut just a little by his fond smile.  “I’m not saying we do a heist,” says Chim, waving a hand exasperatedly. “I’m just saying that if we were going to do a heist, we’d do a better one than that!” “I don’t know,” says Buck, “Apart from the allergy thing, I think this was a pretty solid plan.” “Eddie literally saw them, Buck,” says Chimney flatly, while Eddie and Buck exchange a look. The thrill of a shared secret.  “Okay then,” says Hen, “What do you propose we heist?” As Chimney starts listing options, Buck and Eddie fall into step with each other, already a familiar routine.  “It’s like we’re superheroes,” says Buck quietly, making Eddie huff a little laugh. “Oh yeah?” he says, amused. “We foiled a bank robbery, and no one will ever know!” replies Buck, “We can’t tell them how we did it, or we’ll reveal our secret identities.” “And our superpowers,” agrees Eddie, playing along. “Yeah, yeah, okay, Avengers Assemble…” Buck elbows him in the ribs just a little. “Chris will get it,” he says, “He’ll be on my team with this.”  “How about you come around for dinner tonight, and you can pitch it to him?” offers Eddie easily, like Buck’s not always angling for an invite. “Dinner with my favorite Diaz? And you? Sounds like a plan!” says Buck enthusiastically, getting an elbow to the ribs of his own from Eddie.  ---- Buck’s not waking up with nightmares anymore, because Maddie’s not waking up with nightmares anymore. He should have known it was someone else’s turn.  It’s a regular shift, no natural disasters, no drama, no big crime busts. It should have been a normal shift. They get a call, a hit and run, doesn’t look good says Dispatch.
