hm, I don't really have a particular thing I love the most, but if things like panic attack or flashback scenes are possible, then I would definitely say that. But that's also probably because those are some of my favourite scenes to read as well lmao
I know you have a bunch of WIPs, but I would be very, very interested in your take on deaged Trinity! I would consider writing a version and dedicating it to you but I also have one billion WIPs and it was your concept so I’m most interested in your perspective on it.
That’s very kind of you!
Tbh, I don’t have a plot right now. Or anything really, apart from a few scenes and pure vibes, but I did get intrigued by deaged Trinity myself.
Thinking about it, I think I saw @/tenderhooked talk about a younger Santos once, though iirc it was 20y.o. Santos still living in an abusive home environment!
Of course my take would be quite different, but I thought I’d mention it cause I loved the concept and there are some similarities!
I mean, if I were to write something there’s always the “inspired by” option on Ao3 and I would feel very honored if someone would dedicate something to me! Though of course the curse of a billion WIPs is strong in the both of us lmao!
I’m so sympathetic to Gloria. Like I disagree with her obviously, but she’s trying to balance everything! It’s a shitty situation! So many hospitals have been forced to close or have been sold out. In my state, they are investigating a hospital group for defrauding the public and providing intentionally substandard care. It’s a real issue! So I’m more sympathetic to Gloria than I think I’m supposed to be lol
yeah that's exactly what I mean! She's in a bad situation for sure and it's very easy to hate on her from a viewing perspective (which I totally understand), but I feel like a lot of people don't regard her with the same depth they do with the other characters. I still disagree with her on so many levels though lmao
The big idea I'd love to read but have no desire to write would be a fic where instead of Santos, it's Javadi who discovers Whitaker is homeless after having had her whole arc about how unhoused people need to be listened to and just complete awkwardness from both parties ensues because Dennis doesn’t know if Victoria told her mom or if she would tell anyone and desperately wants her to not. Also maybe there’s rumors the wl ward ess is from an ill-fated hookup. Maybe Santos was the source of said rumor
Ooh, that does sound fun, though not like something I’m gonna write any time soon! Posting this so maybe someone else can get inspired ^^
this is a bit of a longer one as well haha, little sneak peak into an actual plan below the cut <3
11: Do you write scenes in order or do you jump around?
Normally I write pretty much in order, though if it's like a 5+1 situation or something I do jump around a bit, depending on the length of the project (or if I just get really tired of a scene). "Ghost at the back of your closet" for example was entirely written in order, whereas my 10k Ted Lasso fic (WIP) was a lot more chaotic! It really depends! :D
12: Do you outline your fics? If yes, how detailed are your outlines? How far do you stray from them?
When I started writing fics I didn't outline at all, but once I got into longer projects I knew that I couldn't continue that way, simply because of all the errors that come with being a pantser (in my experience)!
If it's a shorter one shot I often only write the prompt like if it's for an event (+ DNWs and characters of the person), or the idea. Sometimes a bit of a short summary of how I want the fic to go, sometimes just the characters/pairings.
Some examples are:
-> "hurt!Rincewind and Twoflower escape from the slave ship with the luggage after their fall from the dragon" (Disc World, WIP)
-> "Techno main & Syndicate, Phil as quartermaster" (DSMP, posted (fic: Blow the Man Down))
For a longer fic I start with that and then sort of try to figure out a time plan. Meaning I divide by overall story and then specific chapter beats. Oftentimes I create a doc for draft planning, so the overall theme, what I want to happen and specific character backgrounds (like trauma, injuries or whatever) to keep track of everything, though often not the entire plot/just a plot with lots of holes in it.
For example my "Forced Proximity AU" has a planning Doc with ca. 500 words and a vague summary of the overall plot and a scene or two I already have in mind. I then pick 3-5 chapter beats I need to get the plot moving along, and try to connect them as well as possible in my draft. Sometimes I notice that one doesn't fit and change it or delete it before I write 2k and have to get rid of it all.
Right now I have 2 chapters planned for this AU but only about 3/4 of the first chapter written. The chapter beats help me jump to the right scene, to remind me what the fuck I was planning on doing and with pacing.
This is what it typically looks like, you can see that the chapter beats are really just the most necessary information, though sometimes I put a sentence below to clarify. Once I'm happy with a segment and have edited it, I put a ✅ emoji next to it (oftentimes only at the end, except for that 15k monster of a chapter I haven't touched in years). Before I post I delete them all so there's less hassle on Ao3 to remove them there.
How many wips do you have? What fandoms/pairings are they for?
ooh boy, that's gonna take a while to count because I actually have no idea lmao! Thank you for the ask!
Currently I have 22 WIPs (+ 8 ideas/prompts or so) in 16-17 fandoms depending on if I count Original Work as one or two because it's technically kinda a bit of a fandom?
The most WIPs are in either DSMP/SBI with 5 (+2) and The Pitt with 4 (+3).
Then there are Original work with 3 and ATLA with 2 (+3) and lastly I have TOH, CR, Ted Lasso, Ghosts (UK), HP, MCU, Hockey, F1, HC, Disc World, Slow Horses and Mozart L'Opera Rock with 1 each. :D
AH SHIT IT FORGOT ABOUT THE OTHER WRITING APP NOOO!!
well, 5 more WIPs over there, none of which I've touched in 3 years give or take lol in DSMP, MCU and HC lol
