🔥 unpopular opinion about... the akatsuki?
they fell flat as villains.
don’t get me wrong - i love the akatsuki and their wildness. it’s just that, as a bunch of ‘world-renowned terrorists’… they shouldn’t have been so easy to take down. sasuke was only injured bc of deidara’s suicide bombing. shikamaru beat the shit out of hidan with ease; pain was a comparatively easy defeat when you look at some other villains in naruto; kakuzu was done for once naruto came onto the scene; sakura screwed sasori over once she figured out his tricks, though she’s a much lower-level ninja compared to him. idk, they had a lot of potential to be set up as final villains, and the pain arc sort of fell on its face… it was sheer unimpressiveness, and i think it could’ve been handled a lot better.
that being said, they’re a fresh archetype! laugh-out-loud hilarious and outlandish, but still with cool and strong powers. those powers could have been put to far better use, and it’s a shame that the akatsuki were handled so terribly. this is just my opinion, though; if anyone has a different opinion please feel free to reblog/drop an ask about it, i’d love to discuss!!
