Violet and lavender for the ask thingy :)
what has your experience been like being bi?
kind of interesting, i suppose. it wasn’t something i was super aware of until about a year or two ago. i attribute a little bit of that to the fact that i grew up in a very conservative area and so for a long time i really didnt have ANY lgbt+ adults/role models in my life. gay people were something i saw on tv and often stereotyped into cartoonish or “slutty” caricatures instead of seeming like real people so it was hard for me to really identify with them. and yet eventually figuring it out wasn’t a surprise either. it felt like something i’d always known, but just wasn’t aware of. the hardest thing for me, i suppose, is being lgbt+ and also a person of faith. im comfortable with myself and feel like the man upstairs is comfortable with me too, but the religious community i’m a part of doesn’t generally share that belief and it can strain on me terribly sometimes. some of my family is very religious and im terrified of them finding out.
when did you realise you were bi?
i started identifying myself as bi maybe a year ago. but i feel it was something i knew even before that. tbh there was no big “AHA! I’M BI!” moment. no particular event/person caused me to question my straightness. rather, it was a very slow, quiet realization for me. i just sort of eventually came to the conclusion that the idea of being attracted to girls/nb folks would be fine with me. it didn’t feel wrong. and it never really had.
