Katherine kept driving. She needed to stop at the next gas station, which according to the signs on US-50 was soon. The runaway wasn't exactly sure where she was going; West, for sure. Maybe more north as well. Her favorite places were completely out of the question; Klaus knew them. Being a creature of habit would get her killed, or turned into his bloodtoy. It was 500 years ago again, except this time she had money, and safehouses. She knew his moves too.

But right now the gas light was blinking, so Katherine rode down the next exit. She was somewhere in southern Ohio. She thought about Canada while a sweaty man filled up her tank, and that she would stay the night a few towns over at one of her residencies, when sharp taps broke her train of thought. It scared the living hell out of her, especially when her own face was attached to the person knocking on the window. Katherine rolled it down just enough to speak. "Didn't get enough back home, Elena? I don't care if you're a vampire, I will run you over 'til you are in pieces I swear to God."
