Why do you think fans get so attached to a celebrity’s personal life? I’m normally a rational person but I can’t help but feel weird about the whole matt/camila thing. It’s almost as if I don’t like it and I don’t understand why I feel this way. I know that it’s none of my business and I realise that I care too much about the life of someone I don’t even know. It’s a repulsive feeling and I hate myself for it.

I’m not sure but I think it’s because fans relate to their idols in so many ways – sometimes in a deeper personal level m.

Like maybe they think Camila’s goofy ways is so relatable, and that they feel they’re the same. Or maybe it’s Lauren’s outspokenness or her sexuality that fans can connect with. Or maybe it’s just how they look and fans idolize how they carry themselves or like they wanna look like them. Maybe your idol has saved you from depression. Or maybe she has inspired you to be a better person.

Stuff like that could create a bond between a fan and a pop star (especially ones that are so accommodating and open to fans like cc/5h), and it creates a certain fondness and connection which makes fans feel like they’re a part of these celebrities lives.

Especially since you see them constantly, and their personal lives are almost always being reported. So it feels like you’re a part of that process, of that life, sometimes you feel like your idol is somehow you (or partly you)… So when you see something she does or someone she dates that you don’t approve of, you feel like you have a right to say something. Because you think you’re just concerned, that you’re just looking out for her…

But there are boundaries that should be maintained. The lives and decisions of our idols are not our business. We may not like it, but we should just let them be. We can talk about it, it’s fine, it’s part of the entertainment business. But what we shouldn’t do is spread hate or bombard our idols with unsolicited advices or opinions.They have their own lives, just like we have ours.

In the difference between using something real for PR or something being just PR, I think you have to look at the context. For instance, Harry Styles and Camille Rowe, to me are just PR. She had a boyfriend for almost two years until three weeks before she was seen with him, and his fans first heard her name because Harry was shown in an interview with one of his friends, a picture of her in a game the week before they were seen together. That's just PR. You don't announce a real relationship

on the radio when it has just started, especially when you know the other person will get tons of hate and has just finished another long-term relationship. And his friends know that and would never do that to him. An example of real but used for PR is Taylor and Joe Alwyn. She knew she was writing an album about him, so she gave the exclusive to The Sun and allowed to be seen with him a couple of times before releasing Reputation, but she’d been with him for months by then and they had tons of private experiences together, and she wore wigs to not be seen in London when she was with him. Obviously all of that wasn’t just PR. And using her relationship for PR is not a bad thing. I don’t know how long Camila and Matthey have been dating or known each other. If it’s very recent and she arranged paparazzi to take pictures, then, rip, it’s just PR. If their relationship is established, then it just makes sense to use it. Nothing wrong with that!

Let me just be clear about my stand with regards to this MattMila thing. (For people reading this, not you anon lol)

1. It definitely feels PR for me. She has a new single coming. We know how their team works when it comes to marketing and creating buzz. These types of photos and strategy is common. Whether it’s real or fake pr, let’s just wait for more shit to be fed to us.

2. I’m merely offering the idea that if there’s fake PR, it’s only logical that there’s also real PR. Because that’s a problem in this fandom, or maybe it’s a mechanism to cope, that they automatically shout “PR!!!!” to everything that has happened with 5h/cc that they don't like. I just want them to consider the possibility that sometimes there are real stuff going on (not just a fake pr) even if it is used as PR (real pr).

3. Whether I believe if MattMila is real or not, it doesn’t matter. Because I have said from the start that I don’t care whether a ship is PR or not. I’ll take what I see, I’ll ship anything they give me even if it’s fake. Because this is just me entertaining myself, a distraction. I only think about this MattMila or Tyren thing when I’m here. When I’m not logged in, I don’t think about it.

Life is simpler that way. I’m just a casual observer.
