Story time of how I found a random post on Twitter about a listing of usernames/artists' names that had been used to train certain AI models. I was not on the list, but OP recommend to check Danbooru because most of the things in that "photo holder" site had been scraped... Guess what...
I'm so tired.
Since I started posting my art online (back in ~2018) It had been re-uploaded WITHOUT my permission. First, it was my tododeku/bnha art on Facebook and Instagram pages, which I managed to take down by reaching the person and kindly asking them or by reporting the post to Instagram/Facebook. It happened a couple of times with some TGCF art, too, and I found a couple of my own art on my Printerest FYP.
Im SO tired.
How much louder and how many more times do I need to ask people not to reshare my art without my explicit permission? I don't care if you download the image and FUCKING PRINT IT TO PUT IT IN YOUR WALL, but is it so hard not re-uploading it? Use it as icon/banner, whatever, I feel honored you like it that much, but if you have any appreciation for my art, respect me.
At this point, I can't do anything about it, probably being scrapped by AI models. Whatever. Anywhere ur art is up these days means it's being scrapped, basically. I can't really fight it other than that by supporting real artists, spreading awareness of the implications of using generative AI, especially for creative stuff.
I will not stop creating art because, unlike AI and AI bros, I create because I can't live without it, and I don't know any better because I draw to keep myself sane and because I love doing it. I've been drawing since I was a kid, and I will not stop just because someone can't relate to the human feeling of having something dear to you for so long it's like breathing. I won't stop posting it either because I post not for the likes/profit of it but for the community and friends I make along the way.
If some fucking asshole reposting my art was gonna stop me, I would've stopped in 2018.
But I'm still tired and mad. And since the posts were retrieved from Tumblr, I may aswell let you know all here about my feelings, not that they seem to matter. And no, I'm not feeling a DMCA report, why the fuck do I need to give them my legal name and irl address for that? No, fuck you, keep my art. And they even had the "kidness" to still give me credits, I guess. So whatever.
This said, I may not post in Tumblr (forever or for a while who knows), not that I was posting actively, but 👍
Whatever, I have nothing else to say. Thanks for taking ur time in reading this and for supporting my art, which u can find in good quality that social media doesn't allow aside from in that site IN MY KO-FI.
P.S.: There's a lot of danmei art I recognize, including the ones from the official books, and this is only from the same user that uploaded mines.
