Xander wonders if it's just them who's found the Christmas pudding tasting more sickly lately. Either the holiday heyday is over for the Roth family or divorce is taking its toll… the kids better make cookies next.

VeronaHills, Round Twenty Eight: Sharpe (Beach)

Effie felt the weight of the expensive ring on her finger... and loved it.

From Leonato's point of view, the ring was no major expense at all, with his family's money and all. Effie was no jeweller but she saw the glint that could only be gold and had a hard time taking her eyes off it. She would be posing her hand in particular ways to catch the attention of people she met up with for weeks! She didn't ask for the ring to be expensive, even joking that she'd have accepted a candy pop ring, but Leo was no slouch as a lover. He made the right call and they embraced by the lake at Greaves Greener Gardens, giddy with visions of their shared future.

Back at home, River made a decision. Since Effie was going to move out and live with her fiancé in his large family home in Riverblossom Hills, there was no emotional tie left to his late sister Dixie's house. In fact, it was about time to make memories in a different place. He spoke to his wife and children about Scot's proposal: Come stay at the beach house. We'll have surf n' turf, surf for real if you want. It'll be like going on holiday but you'll be at home!

"As long as I can have Cam over," Marsh said, casually confirming what his family had already figured out, that he and Camembert were dating.

"Yeah, sure," Zea said, testing out her newfound teen lackadaisy. "Whatever," she added for good measure, though she was unable to hide a smile tugging at her lips.

Success! The pitch went down like soft serve on a sunny day.

Hollis and Summer took to university like a gingerbread house on fire.

The sorority was perfect for the sisters' sensibilities. Why, they didn't even have to bring their brandy from home! There was already a bottle sitting pretty in the liquor cabinet of the well-appointed kitchen, sponsored by the ladies' foundation of Annya Var Fruhm. Eggnog was already on the menu and their studies hadn't even begun!

Delightful things were happening back at home, too. Apparently dear cousin Camembert had his first kiss with a boy he really liked. Whether or not Marsh was from a well-to-do family or not really didn't matter to him - such a sweet sentiment, the sisters agreed. They both silently wondered how successful they would respectively be in pursuing romance on campus. Would anyone else appreciate Christmas to such a lofty Roth level?
