Pros of my first foray into the Napoleonic wars being Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell followed by Temeraire:

I remain whimsical despite The Horrors

Got my younger self interested while still giving her dragons and magic

They are some of the greatest books of all time

Bonding with patents because I ask them about history

Cons:

I keep engaging with Napoleonic media and forgetting that dragons aren't real, and wondering where my self destructive toxic magic yaoi is

I keep thinking about how fast the plots of Hornblower could be solved if Mr. H had aviators or Jonathan Strange with him.

Neutral:

I know that Stephen Maturin would love studying magic, and that Sharpe would get along way too well with Childermas
