New camera! It shipped overnight -probably by train- it has Wi-Fi!

So my first test shots were moving dog, skin tones (it didn’t blow out Felicia in the goth bratz, properly rendered the difference between Nevra’s olive tone and Yasmin) then pinks (my phone camera chokes on these), low light then finally deployed the flash for details to see every little scuff, flock, dot, piece of fluff and the lip repaint texture. Exactly what I need. The last photo was taken at 5cm away but this lil thing is supposedly capable of shooting macro at 1cm close.

[Yes the doll cabinet is a mess, yes I will clean up Gigi (pink gal). The fluff on my floor is because I’m in the middle of frogging a sweater back into balls of chenille yarn. Lily the dog is hard to photograph: she makes direct eye contact but stays moving so you either get red eyed demon dog or a fluffy blur. I also took these photos while half asleep.]

On a funny sidenote, I think the reason I managed to snag this camera at way below the usual price (I was willing to pay 100$ more) is that it’s called Powershot SX620 HS and HS is shorthand for hors service. Any other camera with HS in the description means it’s sold for parts and I deliberately searched for sx620 on its own just in case people didn’t want their working camera mislabelled. The menus are a little worn and it’s dusty, but that’s what toothpick q-tips are for.
