Hello all!
Just a couple of notes on asking for monologue advice. There are a few things you can do for me to help you out. I want to try and answer monologues in a timely manner going forward, so doing some of these things could really help me!
When asking for monologues, please do the following:
State your gender (or the gender you want to play)
State your age range
State your preference in terms of monologue (comedic/dramatic, classic/contemporary, genre, etc.)
Specify any details about the audition: sometimes a director will specify on the audition form what sort of monologues he/she is looking for--this helps me a lot
Let me know if there are any pieces/plays you've already looked at
And, in general, just try to give me as much information about what you're looking for as possible. It really helps.
Thank you all! Happy acting!
-C.
Sonnet Submission #1
By cameronclarke
Sonnet #12 I wake in wild, uproarious despair And gather blankets ‘round my shiv’ring form, And gasp and shake and pant for cleaner air Than in my dreams, which mock me with their scorn. The morning brightly cascades through the shades And lights my body as I jerk awake. But with such clouds around me, soft sun fades, And so thick shadows must I calmly take. A cruelest mist, a blasphemy of time, Which shortens all my happy laughing hours, Now frames me for a nightmare’s deadly crime And forces on me all its hellish powers. I lift my head, and lips part; let me speak! But voice, much like dark soul, is dull and weak.

Sonnet Submission #2
By cameronclarke
A fortnight hence I saw thy shining face, And thoughts of older passion filled my head. Thy smile was thin, a subtle band of lace, And words unspoken filled my heart with dread. My patience, in these several months, has grown, And cleanliness of mind has made me freer, But waiting now to hear from you alone Within my mind now generates a fear. The woods are dark which crowd my worried mind, And filled with grizzled beasts and shadowed forms. I seek the light; ‘tis you I hope to find, To guide me from the deadliest of storms. But all the patience soon will show its worth When you jumpstart my hollow heart’s rebirth.

Once you get this you have to say five things you like about yourself, publicly, then send this to ten of your favorite followers (non-negotiable)
First of all, I love ya cameronclarke. Second of all, ask anyone and they will say I’m really good at lovin on myself. Usually. But this week that hasn’t been the case. You and your stupid good timing. Ok. 5 things. Damnit.
1. I like my nose ring. Without knowing it, I waited my whole life for this darn thing to complete my face. I don’t care that my grandma said it was gross.
2. I like my taste in clothes.
3. I like my disregard for social norms that do more hurt than good, such as the gender binary, and my courage to defy those norms even under scrutiny.
4. I think I write good scholastic papers.
5. I like my smile when it’s caught in pictures I didn’t know were being taken.
