Lucas [M] - The King of the Woods
Stuck up, arrogant, and just one half of an irritating duo. Lucas always has to have the last word and the last thing anyone needs is to hear him whine about not getting it. It doesn’t help that the staff like him, the liar. Just be sure to stay out of his way or else.
Asher [NB] - The Sleeping Angel
Completely checked out of life, or at least, that’s what Asher wants everyone to think. There’s just a little something more hiding under that quiet exterior but Asher isn’t the type of person to open up to just anyone. They’ve got demons in their closet, and they’ve come along to camp for the ride.
Jack/Jasmine [M/F] - The Wise Old Tree
If anybody can round up a group of rowdy kids and teens together its this counselor. Calm and collected, they're there when the situation loses control and everyone needs to be working together on the same page. But this personality wasn’t perfected over night and even the calmest of seas can swallow those around them below.
Ethan/Ella [M/F] - The Friend of None
What some may call everyone’s best friend, they're at this camp for one thing and one thing only. To make a summer that’ll last forever. Leader of the pack, they know how to get the populous together and have a good time. But even the party animal has to get tired at some point and it's those moments when the real them emerges.
Ruby [F] - The Little Red Hen
Soft-spoken, polite, and kind to a fault. Ruby is the person you want when you need a comforting hand. A true healer and guiding life even if she is a little shy around others. But all healers have a story, Ruby just doesn’t have the cure to make it all go away.
William/Willow [M/F] - The Undisguised Wolf
They say if you gaze into the abyss, it tends to gaze back and tells you what you’re made of. That’s how it feels when this quiet storm enters a room, the room grows cold and the fun dies out. No one knows what lurks behind those eyes, and no one knows for sure if they’re the eyes of a monster.
Oliver/Olivia [M/F] - The Two-Faced Lover
Excitable, sweet, just the happiest bubble around. Around most people at least. But really, they're just an actor who knows how to play their part. No one knows the real them and maybe that's starting to have a toll on them. But it’s not like they can suddenly do a 180 and show the world who they really are. At least that’s what they like to think.

Progress Update #6// 6/22/24 - Episode 1 Full Release
[Episode 1 is now fully released! + the intro for Episode 2!]
|| DEMO LINK - [96K - W/Code] [23K - Average] ||
Well folks, we're finally here. Episode 1 of Camp Overlook has been fully released. (Did I say I'd release it last month? I did, but let's forget that.) Also included with this update is the intro scene for episode 2, right before your group is meeting the campers.
Unfortunately, we will once again have to start from the beginning, since I changed some wording on the beginnig questions and anwsers. But this will be the last time I do that for a while, even I'm tired having to re-read the beginning of episode 1, get it off my eyes.
Personally, episode 1 is still not complete in a way that I am fully satisfied with. There's a whole section that I ended up removing because it was just way too much. But I'm planning to add it back in when I finish episode 2, it's just gonna have to cook a little bit more in the oven.
But anyways, let's get into what exactly I've included in this update.
A scene where you can either walk alone or with your group to the cabins.
Your cabins! Pick what bed you sleep in, wondering how exactly this will affect the story.
Engage in a scavenger hunt with people outside (or inside) your already assigned group. Pick wisely, you'll be seeing these counselors more than others.
Be accosted by someone you weren't expecting to see, especially when they have something you want.
Hang around the campfire and enjoy some marshmallows with your peers.
Leave your cabin.
I hope you all enjoy this update as much as it beat me to a pulp to get out. I'll be jumping right into episode 2 after this, I just wanna get my hands on it and get these scenes out of my head and onto the file or I'll combust.
As always, please let me know if you encounter any bugs or scenes that aren't quite adding up, or anything that you personally want to suggest to be changed or altered.
And for those who still have asks that haven't been answered, apologies, I just wanted to focus on finishing this update before anything else. But I will be answering them.
Hey, everyone! I've updated the links for the stories so it'll go to the correct place now.
CAMP OVERLOOK - A horror story set inside a small town's summer camp, where everything is not what it seems. The story this blog mainly focuses on.
DARKNESS REBORN - A fantasy story where you take the role of an adventurer trying to protect their homeland. I posted this on the COG forums last year and have been slowly working through it. Give it a read if you're interested.
Thank you to the everyone who messaged me about this.
I will be transferring CO to cogdemos when I get off work today, and will make a second post to let everyone know. As well as changing all the links from previous posts.
Hey everyone, nice to see yall well for this fine update. Even though I was radio silent for two weeks, I hadn't stopped writing in that time. While it is a bit slow going, that could just be that the end of the year is when I get th laziest honestly.
The hardest part of writing for me is figuring out what the actual choices should be. For some scenes, it’s really obvious, but with others, I’m completely stumped on what else someone could say in that situation. It makes the process a bit challenging, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it eventually. I think the first episode was easier because it was the introduction, so I didn’t have to overthink it. Maybe finding a beta reader to bounce ideas off of (besides my mom) would make this part smoother. Luckily, I have some good friends, so hopefully, I’ll start having an easier time with this soon.
In my last update, I mentioned that I’ve started working on the actual introduction of the campers. Now that I’ve had a little more time to develop them, I’m starting to get a better sense of their characterizations. However, I’ve noticed that some of their personalities are coming across as a bit too mature for their age. I know it's a thing that teens think they're really mature, but that's different from them actually being mature, and I don't really want them to be. It would be fine for like, two or three of them, but a whole grade? Not happening bro.
That was a ramble 🤣 but basically I'm going to rework the personalites of some of the kids. I'm begun to realize that it's okay that some of them might be very similair to one another, there's 36 of them, someone is getting the 'yeah, just change it a little so it won't be obvious' treatment.
I’ve been working on outlining some of the big mysteries in the story, and I honestly can’t wait to share more because it’s just so exciting! But, it's also been very freeing since I've been changing plot points here and there to make it all feel so much smoother. Like I've cut, created, brought back, and let hang in the wind so many characters, it's crazy.
As for when the chapter itself will be published, I’m not entirely sure. I’m aiming for a February release, but I don’t want to make promises like last time. Let’s just hope it’s at least ready sometime in 2025, hehe.
That's all I wanted to talk about, see you all next week!
I'm going to try and not spoil parts of the actual story, so wish me luck!
Lucas - Very two-faced. Sometimes you can use this against him, but not often.
Asher - Will never ask for help. Never. Will try to do everything on their own as long as they can.
Jack/Jasmine - Can be way too much of a mediator, will literally stay neutral on everything which can piss people off. Passive for a better word.
Ella/Ethan - Just a little mischivious. Just a tiny bit. You won't even notice. Promise.
Ezra - Believe it or not, a very reckless person. Mostly related to his background, but he takes the type of risks people would break up over.
William/Willow
Kairi/Kei - They don't speak up when they should. If they're in a bad situation, they're more often just endure it before thinking of somehow walking away.
Ruby - A complete pushover. Really bad when you're a camp counselor.
Silas - He has a hard time montiering what comes out of his mouth, which is why he doesn't much if you don't become close.
Olivia/Oliver - They're very likely to leave an ally behind to go rescue them. Let's just leave it at that.
Daniel/Dani - Brick. Wall.
Claire - Have you met her?
Heather/Henry - Can be completely oblivious at any given moment about ANYTHING. I'm telling you, you need to tell this mf why the current problem is a problem at least three times before they get it.
I didn't totally dream that I posted this update and went on to believe that happened in reality. Nah....
Another week, another round of writing. The scenes are as usual beating my ass, which means I don't really get a lot of work down by the end of a session. Sucks, but that's what happened with episode 1 and I still got that bad boy out.
My mom, believe it or not, is actually a good motivator for me. She works from home, so we usually sit together at our dining table to do our work. When I come down to start writing, she'll say, "You here to start a shift?" or "You clocking in late?" or "You doin' overtime?" Makes me laugh and then I'll start a session in a good move. Love her.
I'm also been trying to outline events that happen in the next one episode or so. I don't really like outlining since I'm liable to not follow my own notes and send the plot in a completely different direction. My nemesis has followed me from my fanfiction wips! But I'm really going in deep with these outlines, so hoepfully I don't try to derail the situation and keep the story the way I want it.
That's all I wanted to say, see you all again on Monday! (hopefully...)
