Lucas [M] - The King of the Woods
Stuck up, arrogant, and just one half of an irritating duo. Lucas always has to have the last word and the last thing anyone needs is to hear him whine about not getting it. It doesnāt help that the staff like him, the liar. Just be sure to stay out of his way or else.
Asher [NB] - The Sleeping Angel
Completely checked out of life, or at least, thatās what Asher wants everyone to think. Thereās just a little something more hiding under that quiet exterior but Asher isnāt the type of person to open up to just anyone. Theyāve got demons in their closet, and theyāve come along to camp for the ride.
Jack/Jasmine [M/F] - The Wise Old Tree

Ruby [F] - The Little Red Hen
Soft-spoken, polite, and kind to a fault. Ruby is the person you want when you need a comforting hand. A true healer and guiding life even if she is a little shy around others. But all healers have a story, Ruby just doesnāt have the cure to make it all go away.
William/Willow [M/F] - The Undisguised Wolf
They say if you gaze into the abyss, it tends to gaze back and tells you what youāre made of. Thatās how it feels when this quiet storm enters a room, the room grows cold and the fun dies out. No one knows what lurks behind those eyes, and no one knows for sure if theyāre the eyes of a monster.
Oliver/Olivia [M/F] - The Two-Faced Lover
Excitable, sweet, just the happiest bubble around. Around most people at least. But really, they're just an actor who knows how to play their part. No one knows the real them and maybe that's starting to have a toll on them. But itās not like they can suddenly do a 180 and show the world who they really are. At least thatās what they like to think.
.....and seven others to discover! (Character Bios Here)
Are we still alive? Genuinely love the premise of this IF, but I honestly to gods canāt access it through cogdemos and we havenāt had an update since dashingdon crashed š
Would just like to make sure our beloved author is alive and well š
Idk what the hell happened, but the link should work now. Let me know if it doesnāt.
On your second point, Iām still working on the story. But I honestly regret posting about it so early in its development. I shouldāve started posting when I was five chapters deep, not just fresh off of making the first one.
Iāve decided to put a pause on posting about it until Iāve gotten farther along in the project. That might be be another year or two away, but I really donāt want to give up on this story.
Hey, everyone! I've updated the links for the stories so it'll go to the correct place now.
CAMP OVERLOOK - A horror story set inside a small town's summer camp, where everything is not what it seems. The story this blog mainly focuses on.
DARKNESS REBORN - A fantasy story where you take the role of an adventurer trying to protect their homeland. I posted this on the COG forums last year and have been slowly working through it. Give it a read if you're interested.
Thank you to the everyone who messaged me about this.
I will be transferring CO to cogdemos when I get off work today, and will make a second post to let everyone know. As well as changing all the links from previous posts.
I'm going to try and not spoil parts of the actual story, so wish me luck!
Lucas - Very two-faced. Sometimes you can use this against him, but not often.
Asher - Will never ask for help. Never. Will try to do everything on their own as long as they can.
Jack/Jasmine - Can be way too much of a mediator, will literally stay neutral on everything which can piss people off. Passive for a better word.
Ella/Ethan - Just a little mischivious. Just a tiny bit. You won't even notice. Promise.
Ezra - Believe it or not, a very reckless person. Mostly related to his background, but he takes the type of risks people would break up over.
William/Willow
Kairi/Kei - They don't speak up when they should. If they're in a bad situation, they're more often just endure it before thinking of somehow walking away.
Ruby - A complete pushover. Really bad when you're a camp counselor.
Silas - He has a hard time montiering what comes out of his mouth, which is why he doesn't much if you don't become close.
Olivia/Oliver - They're very likely to leave an ally behind to go rescue them. Let's just leave it at that.
Daniel/Dani - Brick. Wall.
Claire - Have you met her?
Heather/Henry - Can be completely oblivious at any given moment about ANYTHING. I'm telling you, you need to tell this mf why the current problem is a problem at least three times before they get it.
Letās kick things off with what Iāve been working on this week. Remember a few weeks ago when I said I was done with the sixth grade section? Well, guess what? Iām back at it. No major overhauls, just revisiting to streamline the scenes and clean things up, make it not as messy as my code was making it out to be.
The opening for the seventh grade section is going pretty smooth so far as well, which I'm coming to realize just might be the hardest group of people to write for. A lot of personality in that group is all I'm gonna say. What I will say is that Iām really enjoying writing scenes where the player builds stronger connections with the counselors.
I also spent some time writing a bit further ahead in the chapter. I donāt want to make a habit of that, but sometimes you just need to get your ideas down on paper. Itās meant to advance the story, but itās also one of those scenes where youāre left thinking, How the hell is this going to connect back??????
One of my friends has read through the story so far and shared some great ideas to help make a few scenes flow more smoothly. Like I mentioned last week, the issue isnāt the writing itself, but figuring out where to include a choice section and what options it should offer. Having a second opinion has been incredibly helpful. Especially since my mom hates horror media involving children, so she out for the count. š¤£
Hey everyone, nice to see yall well for this fine update. Even though I was radio silent for two weeks, I hadn't stopped writing in that time. While it is a bit slow going, that could just be that the end of the year is when I get th laziest honestly.
The hardest part of writing for me is figuring out what the actual choices should be. For some scenes, itās really obvious, but with others, Iām completely stumped on what else someone could say in that situation. It makes the process a bit challenging, but Iām sure Iāll get used to it eventually. I think the first episode was easier because it was the introduction, so I didnāt have to overthink it. Maybe finding a beta reader to bounce ideas off of (besides my mom) would make this part smoother. Luckily, I have some good friends, so hopefully, Iāll start having an easier time with this soon.
In my last update, I mentioned that Iāve started working on the actual introduction of the campers. Now that Iāve had a little more time to develop them, Iām starting to get a better sense of their characterizations. However, Iāve noticed that some of their personalities are coming across as a bit too mature for their age. I know it's a thing that teens think they're really mature, but that's different from them actually being mature, and I don't really want them to be. It would be fine for like, two or three of them, but a whole grade? Not happening bro.
That was a ramble 𤣠but basically I'm going to rework the personalites of some of the kids. I'm begun to realize that it's okay that some of them might be very similair to one another, there's 36 of them, someone is getting the 'yeah, just change it a little so it won't be obvious' treatment.
Iāve been working on outlining some of the big mysteries in the story, and I honestly canāt wait to share more because itās just so exciting! But, it's also been very freeing since I've been changing plot points here and there to make it all feel so much smoother. Like I've cut, created, brought back, and let hang in the wind so many characters, it's crazy.
As for when the chapter itself will be published, Iām not entirely sure. Iām aiming for a February release, but I donāt want to make promises like last time. Letās just hope itās at least ready sometime in 2025, hehe.
That's all I wanted to talk about, see you all next week!
If you were still wondering about this question, it doesn't exist yet. Probably won't for honestly another two years with how long it's taken me to write the next part of the demo.
the snippet was adorable! i definitely have a soft spot for kids i'm already ready to adopt all of them (then get my heart broken when something bad inevitably happens)
I was able to write a few scenes to help me get inside of minds of a few of the kids while I was sick, so I really get this feeling š
Like on one hand, I don't want to write scenes involving their deaths cause their MY children. But on the other hand, I know someone's not going to bother saving about two or three of these kids š
I didn't totally dream that I posted this update and went on to believe that happened in reality. Nah....
Another week, another round of writing. The scenes are as usual beating my ass, which means I don't really get a lot of work down by the end of a session. Sucks, but that's what happened with episode 1 and I still got that bad boy out.
My mom, believe it or not, is actually a good motivator for me. She works from home, so we usually sit together at our dining table to do our work. When I come down to start writing, she'll say, "You here to start a shift?" or "You clocking in late?" or "You doin' overtime?" Makes me laugh and then I'll start a session in a good move. Love her.
I'm also been trying to outline events that happen in the next one episode or so. I don't really like outlining since I'm liable to not follow my own notes and send the plot in a completely different direction. My nemesis has followed me from my fanfiction wips! But I'm really going in deep with these outlines, so hoepfully I don't try to derail the situation and keep the story the way I want it.
That's all I wanted to say, see you all again on Monday! (hopefully...)
Here we are back again with the weekly updates. Letās hope I keep it up this time, haha.
Iām joining in on Nanowrimo this month (fuck the website) and Iāve already finished two scenes I was struggling through before. I still want to go back over them, but Iām pretty satisfied with how they turned out.
Itās crazy to think that this time last year CO was just a series of pages outlining what, who, why everything was. Itās also crazy how much Iāve already diverted from certain parts of that, but I feel like thatās just apart of writing for lot of authors.
The sixth grade section I can confidently say is basically 90% completed, and I can finally start the process of beginning the 7th grade section. Iām honestly so excited to start writing the all the kids into the story. I tried to make them likable while also showing just how weird middle schoolers can be. They donāt see themselves as kids anymore, but itās not like theyāre adults yet either, so they can be a little awkward.
I myself entered the 7th grade in 2011(!!), and I remember just how awkward I was at that age. I really was one of those kids who thought I was smarter than most people my age. Cringe.
Hey everyone, look who's almost a whole month late. Unfortunately, this will not be a post about the demo update. But please don't worry, the project is not being cancelled.
Iāve been holding off on releasing the update because I donāt feel itās quite ready yet. I really dislike going back on my promises, and Iām genuinely sorry for the delay. But I'm doing this because I feel this will be better for my overall personal process. I've written close to 20k words since the beginning of the month and I just don't want anyone seeing it yet.
Moving forward, I think it would be best to update the demo only once each episode is complete, rather than posting sporadically as I have been. I was so excited to get the story out there with the first episode, but there's so many points that I could have done better if I hadn't put time limits for myself.
So yes, for now on, I'll only update the demo once an episode has been finished. I hope you understand and I appcrecite all the support everyone has given me so far.
With that said, I hope what I say next will be seen as some good news.
I realize I havenāt posted a proper progress report since July, which was around the time I got sick. As I've said before it was just the flu (which I get literally every year), and I'm back to 100% by now. It did make me sluggish for a long while though and I sorta lost my motivation to keep up with the blog.
But, now that I've gotten all this stuff off my chest, I'd really like to go back to those weely updates and go back to answering questions. I'm sorry to everyone who asked if I was okay and didn't get a reply, I was just kinda embarrassed at my long absence to be honest.
Thatās all I wanted to share, thank you for reading if youāve made it this far. I completely understand if anyone is unsure about the future of this project and would prefer to unfollow until itās closer to being finshed. I worry about its future too, but I'm committed to seeing it through.
Don't worry, the camp killer hasn't gotten me yet!
I just took a break from using tumblr, I was starting to feel some early burnout so I took a step back to focus solely on the wip. But eventually I'll return, when I'm in a better headspace for it.
I am happy to say that the first half of the next episode is going to be released in the beginning of October! So get ready for that āļø
E is going to be so bad for MC. They definitely wonāt communicate everything with them. They are holding back and are not to be trusted. Too bad my MC is just going to keep kicking their ankles dreamily.
Haha, E is definitely going to be acting a little suspect throughout the story. Honestly Iām excited for how the player wonāt know if itās because they know everything and are involved with it or thatās just how they are for some reason.
