I wanted to share a story about another resident at Camp Able's ranch - Sabine, a young Great Dane. Durning one of Camp Able's events for kids in wheel chairs I held Sabine on a leash as to help her get more confident around people. And when a little girl in a wheel chair caught sight of the puppy, she couldn’t help but ask to pet her. I hesitantly led shy Sabine over to the girl and when Sabine saw the bulky chair she started to panic. Then the girl leaned down to get a better look of Sabine. Sabine looked up at the little girl from where she was sitting on the ground. And the dog seemed to understand. As Sabine stood, she laid her head in the little girl’s lap. For a shy dog like Sabine, that was quite scary for her, yet she knew that the girl needed her.
