It’s always the poorest neighborhoods that get robbed. Now we know why the CEO of #marta killed himself. #atlanta #atlantaga #campbelltonrd #Repost @atlscoop with @make_repost ・・・ In 2016, the City of Atlanta voted and agreed to increase taxes by half a penny for enhanced MARTA rail services. $317 million of those funds would go towards light rail on Campbellton Road. However, in a recent report, MARTA only allocated roughly $120 million for the Campbellton Road project, nearly a $200 million dollar difference. MARTA's staff unveiled a plan to bring bus rapid transit, instead of (promised) light rail. Transit demand along Campbellton is high— route 83, one of MARTA's busiest, serves more than 4,000 people daily— and the new line had been pitched to create jobs and spark redevelopment. Atlanta City Council Members Marci Collier Overstreet (District 11), Antonio Lewis (District 12), and Andrea L. Boone (District 10) will host a town hall in response to MARTA’s new plan this evening.
