On Saturday, March 5, 2016 Career Awareness Program students attended our Annual Career Fair. Volunteers led interactive career workshops that were designed to inspire, inform and challenge students to think critically about their future career paths. Children learned about architecture, business operations, NYC government, engineering, music entertainment, fashion styling, law, social media marketing, and more! On March 23rd, students from the Career Awareness Program visited Tanya Taylor's studio in Soho for a job shadowing to learn about what goes into building a successful fashion brand. After touring the studio, the students heard from different members of the staff about the business and creative aspects of a fashion brand including accounting, logistics, pattern making and design. Students then had the opportunity to put together their own social media post using pieces from Tanya's latest collection and accessories from the studio. The Fresh Air students left feeling inspired by Tanya's enthusiasm and encouraging words to follow their own fashion dreams.
