I was inspired to find these shoes because of a recent post regarding Vineyard Vines khaki shorts. I've had these classic L.L. Bean Camp mocks since 2002.  The heel has been replaced, and I've long since discarded the padded inserts.  The leather on the inside of the shoe has molded to my feet, and I wore these regularly until this past year.  The grainy-ness of the shoe in the top photograph isn't because of camera quality; it's because there's a thin layer of red clay on the shoe from some time ago (which you can see better in the second picture).  I have not worn them in awhile because the heel had blown off of one shoe during some late night debauchery, and I had put them in the back of my closet to be forgotten.  

There's just too much history behind these, though. I am going to take them to the cobbler to see if they can work some magic and restore these shoes.  I've also heard that L.L. Bean does a restoration process for some shoes (mainly the boots).  I may give them a call and will certainly do a re-post once I get these cleaned up.
