Okay, I finished The Tommyknockers by Stephen King and I just want to say that the green light and the alien counterparts remind me of maple syrup. It's everywhere in New England and you can't escape it and it changes places. Spicy things? They never heard of them. Only maple syrup exists. Savory? How dare you? You need light? Tap a maple tree and peer through the sunlight. They've started adding maple syrup to cheese and putting it on apple pie.

I was about to make a crack about Germany going, “FINALLY, the golden child starts a world war.” but I guess we’re living in a time/history/etc where none of that happened, or hasn’t happened yet, or something. So this is still an idea that doesn’t really make sense. I mean, I don’t think the Victorians, real or fake, could have forseen what was going to happen with WWI. Who the fuck could have? War had never ever been like that, before. It is most definitely not my historical specialty but I cannot express to you enough HOW much of an absolute shock the whole of WWI was to not just everyone involved but like, the world.
ANyway, World Wars are bad, and they have always historically been really bad for Europe specifically, and I’m sure with Russia making power moves the entirety of Europe is sighing and looking at the buildings they JUST FUCKING REBUILT FROM THE LAST ONE.
