The Bolognese canals are part of a system created to have water from the Po and the Reno, to form it for the city mills and to feed the second circle of walls (of the Thousand), taking advantage of the existing drop. The system is quite complex. Another window for the curious is in via Malcontenti ... b) Torresotto di San Vitale (or serraglio, or voltone) It was part of the second circle of walls, called the Mille, characterized by similar towers, 4 of which still exist. Ours is located along the Via San Vitale to its sides flowed a moat. c) Portico of San Sigismondo (13th century). Largo Trombetti. In full university area, in front of the church, also called "del vignazzo", known for the miracle of the 'holy child', the blessed Imelda. Commissioned by the Malvezzi family.
