Cancelled "Tarzan vs King Kong"
In the 1990s, Dark Horse Comics published comics based on popular movie monsters. The company planned to release comics about King Kong. There were also plans to release a "Tarzan vs. King Kong" story, but issues with complex and confusing rights to the King Kong character ruined those plans. According to the artist, someone owned the rights to the music, someone to the film, someone to the plot. Thus, this prevented the creation of a comic book about the confrontation between King Kong and Tarzan.
Here is Frank Cho's work for the canceled comic - three pages by him of the canceled comic book and an oil painting with Kong, which, apparently, was supposed to be a cover for a comic book (?).
