The Mary Jane Girls was an R&B, soul, funk and disco band, active between 1979 - 1987, produced by singer/musician Rick James.
Rumor has it that the origin of the group’s name alludes to Jame’s affinity for marijuana.
They are best known for their hit and most covered songs, such as, “All Night Long”, “In My House”, “Boys” and “Candy Man”. The group consisted in 4 characters:
✪ Joanne “JoJo” McDuffie (lead vocalist) – sexy and streetwise; a female version of Rick James himself
✪ Cheryl Ann “Cheri” Bailey, who left the band after the 1st album and was replaced by Yvette “Corvette” Marine – valley girl
✪ Candice “Candi” Ghant - vamp
✪ Kimberly “Maxi” Wuletich – dominatrix
