A Very Rare & Special Leaf Grown in CANADA
In today’s huge lot of teas that arrived at my door step, I was very excited for one small box above all. Even though, I was very excited for all the purple teas that arrived, this little box contained something very special.
The pouches pictured above are from the Westholme Tea Company, located in British Columbia. They are importers and sellers of organic teas and herbs from around the world, but what makes this little company and these pouches so special? Well, this may come as a surprise to most who read this, but because of this little company, there is yet another country to add to the list of countries that grow and produce tea, that country being Canada. In 2010 the owners this little company planted their first tea bushes and over a decade later have become the very first and only commercial growers and producers of tea in Canada.
The teas have only been harvested and processed for a few seasons now, and I have continuously missed my chances at getting some of these Canadian grown tea. They are produced in very small batches and sell out extremely fast. This year however I was able to get a pre-order notification for the spring 2021 harvest. I jumped right on this and purchased all three teas up for pre-order. The teas being of great rarity and small amounts produced run quite a high price. The three pouches above which feature a Black, Green, & White tea total 10g per pouch, 30g in total, which after taxes cost around $108.00. But being just harvested and produced this spring, these teas are fresh as can be.
Also to my delight, when I opened the box I found an extra little surprise.
Included in the box was a whole dried tea leaf, and honestly this was my first time seeing a whole unprocessed tea leaf. It now resides in the tea room amongst the other tea treasures.
I’m so excited and nervous to try these teas, as there is no room for error when brewing them, due to there being only 10g of each. Not a lot of wiggle room to screw up... actually there is no wiggle room at all. LOL!
Visit this little companies site and search through their amazing selection of imported teas, handmade ceramics and of course Canadian grown teas.
