Eiji loves her very much, but is going to need remedial lessons on how to be Gentle. Candle is getting confused by her enthusiasm, and soggy from licking.
Keysmash (my sister's Salandit) encountered Candle when he was basking on the windowsill outside. He is skeptical of a small bird. He's not very social anyway.
