Don’t mind Camilo while he squeaks. It’s only the most embarassing noise he’s ever made in his life, it’s no big deal. In his defence, Clara surprised him. He wasn’t expecting cheek kisses, they’re too young for cheek kisses, they shouldn’t even be holding hands without a chaperone present!

“Claraaaaaaa.” Camilo whines, hiding his bright red face in his hands. He has no words to argue against what she’s done - it was, after all, innocent, even if it was also inappropriate - so all he can do is let out a very quiet, very muffled scream.

“Who says we have to?” Camilo says, keeping his voice soft. One hand moves gently through Clara’s hair, while the other rests atop her own hand - not quite holding it, but there.

The plan was to sit for a while, allow her to rest her head on his lap, and he would work on a play he’s fairly close to finishing. They both need breaks from their work, and it seemed a good idea. Thus far, however, his writing has been ignored entirely in favour of admiring the girl he’s with.

And who could blame him? The urge to lean down and kiss her forehead strikes him, and his cheeks grow pink, but Camilo doesn’t move. He only allows the hand stroking her hair to take a quick detour, his thumb brushing over the spot he wishes he were brave enough to press his lips to, and smiles.

“We can stay here a little longer.”

@candlesinthenight​ :   [Totally on anon] Your attention to detail with Camilo's character and how he behaves according to each person in his life is great. I enjoy seeing him get up to hijinks on the dash as well. I can't wait to explore more of his character and how he reacts to things developing with Kalia.

out of character .   ah yes absolutely and totally on anon there . in all seriousness though , i greatly appreciate this !! i have definitely gotten a lot more confident with camilo over time so i’m at the point now where i feel a bit more assured with him & writing him comes easier ! i am also excited to see how things end up with the boys !! <3

❝  𝗗𝗜𝗢𝗦  ,  kalia  ,  ​​eres  un  idiota  !  ❞  it’s  not  really  anger  that  bleeds  through  camilo’s  tone  ;  more  concern  as  he  clutches  kalia’s  wrists  in  his  own  hands  ,  stares  down  at  the  worn  skin  .  contrasted  to  his  own  (  soft  ,  never  truly  worked  )  ,  it’s  jarring  .  oftentimes  it’s  easy  for  camilo  to  forget  that  everyone  else  in  the  village  had  to  do  such  difficult  ,  hands  -  on  jobs  while  he  …  he  just  happened  to  be  born  into  the  right  family  .  before  the  other  can  so  much  as  speak  ,  camilo  is  pulling  him  towards  casita  .  ❝  come  on  ,  stupid  .  lets  get  you  one  of  my  tía’s  arepas  .  ❞

𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗘'𝗦  𝗡𝗢  𝗔𝗨𝗗𝗜𝗕𝗟𝗘  𝗥𝗘𝗣𝗟𝗬  .  instead  ,  camilo  merely  lifts  one  of  the  cookies  up  and  takes  a  bite  out  of  it  in  almost  spite  -  the  glint  of  mischief  in  his  eyes  ,  however  ,  tells  the  genuine  playfulness  of  the  situation  .  neither  of  them  are  serious  ;  he  hopes  he’s  come  to  know  kalia  well  enough  that  if  the  other  had  been  truly  angry  with  him  ,  camilo  would  have  been  able  to  pick  up  on  that  .  as  it  stands  ,  however  …  he  thinks  they’re  still  in  lighthearted  territory  .  

❝  yeah  ,  well  …  what’s  mine  is  yours  and  all  that  ,  right  ?  ❞  a  grin  .  ❝  i’ll  share  with  you  anyway  ,  just  hold  still  -  ❞  and  then  camilo  is  going  to  lean  across  and  kiss  him  ;  perhaps  kalia  can  taste  the  sugar  of  the  cookie  on  his  lips  .  ❝  see  ?  i  still  shared  .  ❞

There isn't really a huge amount of variation in Camilo's chores. Take care of a baby for twenty minutes over here, entertain some kids for an hour over there, go home, grab some food, maybe get a little bit of downtime, then go back out and start again when he's needed.

It's fun, of course, and Camilo loves it, loves the kids too. But he'd be lying if he said something new now and again wasn't welcomed. A break from routine is something exciting, so when Mirabel told him she thought he could be helpful at the tailor's, he leapt at the chance.

But of course, the day he plans to go gets busy. The moment one baby is out of his arms, there's a frazzled mother needing him to take hers for 'just a few minutes, please' and he can't say no. Eventually, Camilo gets away, all infants happy and back with their families, so he's free to duck through the door, hoping he hasn't left it too late for the day.

"Hola." He calls out as an initial greeting. "Sorry if I'm here at a bad time. My cousin told me you needed some help with something, I thought I'd drop by and see what I can do."
