The mega-popular Candy Crush Saga borrowed heavily from a game which was released two years prior, CandySwipe. Citing potential customer confusing, Random, the maker of CandySwipe opposed the trademark King filed for Candy Crush. King's response? Buy a completely unrelated game that pre-dated CandySwipe and used the word candy and petition the court to have Ransom's trademark for CandySwipe cancelled.
Ransom is run by a single person who can't afford to fight King. Here is the founder's open letter to King.
