This might sound like the plot to an old movie but as many as 30% of multiple embryo pregnancies end with less babies than they started with.

Known as “vanishing twin syndrome” it’s not so much a case of babies eating each other. More as case of the mother or the other siblings absorbing a weaker twin.

We think this has always happened but it’s only since ultrasound that we can actually spot it happening between scans.
