We are working on heeling at street crossings! Now as soon as we get within ~10ft or so from a corner, she'll kinda automatically go into a heel, and sit when I stop. Super useful so she doesn't just run into the street, also if we are turning instead of crossing. But I also love this "heel means come from wherever u are and sit next to me" thing.

You know you're bored at work when you go onto videos on Facebook and try to educate people who praise Cesar Milan like an idol. If I can convert just one person of their ideals, then my time won't have been for nothing. If nothing else, others will be able to contemplate my argument.

I've got my first session of dog training some time in the next few weeks and I'm nervous as shit if I'm honest. I've never actually been paid to do this before and it's kinda freaking me out.

Some good news!

In light of everything that's been going on here recently, I have a Loki progress report! I dragged @dappledawgs along on our walk today, and we walked for prob an hour and saw LOTS of dogs. The only real time she reacted tho was when a bulldog kinda came out from behind a truck and startled her a bit, and then one dog she kinda pulled toward later, but other than that she was great! We were able to pass all the other dogs, and she stayed p relaxed, stayed focused on me, and was able to keep from fixating on the other dogs! Considering we haven't worked on her reactivity in a while I'd say it was a pretty great day.

Bruno is a very nervous dog, and he's scared of just about anything new. I mean once he dropped his stick on the floor and it made a loud sound, and he wouldn't go near it for an hour. Buuut... Apparently my mom came home tonight and the smoke alarm had been beeping all day (just the low battery warning), and Bruno wouldn't even come inside. He was hiding in the dog house, and she had to lay with him for an hour to get him to relax enough to stop shaking, and then another hour after that to get him to come inside. Why on earth is he so scared of that? The only other time I've seen him like that was at the sound of a nut cracker. It's not loud noises, it's very specific ones that really, really terrify him. Why???

Loki on her walk! Gosh, training anything with this dog is challenging, especially when she's on leash! We worked on LLW, eye contact and some LAT with neighbors dogs, but she couldn't give a crap about treats while on a walk (there may have been once or twice while I tried shoving treats into her mouth, and she would just spit them out, lol). This is us practicing some basic obedience at the park, just so she'd respond to me a little better when walking. She didn't lol. Still a fun walk! My question is does anyone have any advice on how to work on LAT (or any other treat based training) when your dog doesn't even want to take treats? It honestly doesn't even matter what value the treats are. It's just a little frustrating.
