We went on a tour visiting two beaches with Johanna and Gabriel, the first one we visited was White Rock.
When arriving there we took a stroll to the end of the pier and enjoyed the amazing view. We didn’t see any seals until we started heading back along the beach where one was swimming carefree in the sea occasionally popping his head out to have a look around. This was a new experience for me, I can honestly say I don’t think I have ever encountered seals in the wild before; it was pretty cool to see. We then had a walk along the beach where I attempted to find a complete shell in order to bring it home for my niece (which I did find but I must have misplaced it somewhere along my travels – but the thought was there). After visiting White Rock we went on to visit Crescent Beach where we had a picnic and Bean went for a dip in the sea.
Both beaches were beautiful with incredible picturesque views goodness knows how much the properties cost out there. In the evening we met up with Megan at My Shanti and had a delicious Indian meal, with plenty of leftovers to take home for Megan’s lunch the following day.
We drove to Johanna’s friends where we popped in to say hello and then got the bus downtown to Main Street to have a wander around and check out the area. I really enjoyed taking in all of the graffiti everywhere (here’s a few of my favourites).
We ate at the Five Point Bar which was pretty good. After checking out all the shops we wanted to, we had some time to kill so we went for a stroll to ‘Dude Chilling Park’ which lived up to its name with very chilled vibes. I found a cool VHS copy of ‘Curly Sue’ in a thirft shop close by, I had to buy it as it’s one of my favourite John Hughes films. I honestly don’t know if it would even play on our video player but I own it and its an awesome keepsake. We then got the bus back to Yolanda’s where Megan was waiting for us and ventured to Commercial Street where we found a really cool cafe, named the Cannibal Cafe named after a song by one of Bean and mines favourite bands SNFU. The singer of the band Chi Pig is originally from Edmonton but he relocated to Vancouver.
On Friday we went to Guildford Town Centre (The Mall) nearest to where Meg lives, we did a bit of shopping, I ate poutine and Bean had A&W. I bought some clothes from Forever 21 (I wish I bought more now). In the evening we went to have a family meal at White Spot and then on to see Doug Stanhope at The Columbia. Doug Stanhope is one of Beanie’s favourite comedians and we were lucky enough for him to be touring their whilst we were visiting.
