As canning season approaches I have a tip for you; when you are sitting there with endless numbers of berries (or cherries or apricots or whatever) that you are cleaning and chopping for jam set aside a cap or a pit or something for each cup you put into the pot for processing. . This will save you from the old " how many cups do I have in there?" I can't tell you how many times I would get distracted and then come back and be all oh noes and have to take them all out and count again. . Now I just look at my little reminder pile (see on the left?) and I am good! . This little trick works for anything where you have to cut/chop and add quantities to a pot or bowl. .
