My upper-division psych classes make me desperately want to write a modern, non-powered Steve/Bucky AU (albeit with built-like-a-brick-shithouse Steve, because of reasons) in which instead of becoming the Winter Soldier, Bucky has severe Stockholm syndrome and PTSD from a long-term abusive relationship. And Steve will be like an uber do-gooder who works with all of the non-profit orgs ever. And Sharon Carter is a badass who works with battered women, and they kind of dated for a while, but Steve was obviously hung up on someone. She sees Bucky in a shelter and recognizes him from Steve's photos and is all like "There's someone who you'd be better helping out than me." And then recovery fic. Psych major why do you do these things to me.
