Islands of the Oso Peninsula
Join my family on our Costa Rican adventures. We’ve been living in the jungle and exploring the Oso Peninsula. Today we are visiting Isla del Caño of Corcovado Bahia and Isla Violin –perhaps we’ll find gold and pirate’s treasure!

Cano Island
The Osa Peninsula is truly an amazing place, especially for animal and nature lovers. The majority of the peninsula is covered by the Corcovado National Park and is home to at least half of all species living in Costa Rica.
On our first day at Bahia Drake we decided to go on a snorkeling adventure off of Cano Island, a Biological Reserve located about 45 minutes off the coast of the peninsula. In order to protect the biodiversity, the island is completely undeveloped and tourists are only permitted on the north face of the island.

While snorkeling we came upon a school of Big-eyed Jacks, the kind of fish that swim in huge schools that look like tornadoes. Both of us took off our snorkeling gear and dove down to swim among the fish. Such an awesome experience.

Lunch break on the beach.
We had a bit of downtime during lunch and became friendly with some locals.
