📝 + This is almost definitely influenced by prior conversations and similarities but Ghost / Simon Riley.
Send a 📝 and a character you think I'd play well, and I'll try writing something for them.
Okay so it's been a while since I've played the main campaign of COD Modern warfare , but I do remember how it ends and it made me so sad again for Ghost. This was written on this music
"So why the mask Lt?" Admittedly, Simon had disconnected from the conversation and the noise. The flight was in darkness, only lit by that red and green light. Often people wondered what he was thinking about, the answer was nothing. Corpses do not think. It's been a long time since he had in fact felt like being anything more than a Ghost for the enemy.
And yet, every time he made eye contact with a teammate, that gaze was so penetrating it could cut through a lot of someone's facade. He was not a man of many words, preferred to show his loyalty through actions. Captain Pierce understood, used him like a sharp tool, and if he was being honest with himself, the new team did make him more hopeful, though he was cautious with that word. Once he too had a team he considered family with the result that they had turned on him and killed what he has tried so hard to protect.
"Why do you ask Soap ? " Ghost's voice cut through the noise of the helicopter. "Oh I don't know, keeps me guessing what your mug looks like...bet it's cute dumb. " The thinks that came out of Soap's mouth sometimes made him wonder how old that man truly was. "Something like that...still an improvement from your slug face, Johnny." "Haha, very funny. I just have not shaved in days, you cannot come for me that way." There's a smile, Johnny cannot see. He managed that a lot and Simon wasn't sure how. Maybe because he reminded him of Tommy in many ways. Many, many ways. "I wear it to honor my best friend." "Awe for me ?" " never said you were my best friend." "But I do feel the love Lt, on every mission."
"My brother." Johnny's face fell a bit , seriousness seen by Ghost's eyes. "We suffered a lot as kids... pulled him out of the gutter... made a family for himself...wife and kid..." Ghost's eyes wandered. "Easy to go after family with this job." The voice became more distant, though Ghost always spoke in a more flat voice, no real growl of anger in it anymore. Just lassitude or flat facts."Choices have consequences. "
Silence fell after that. Not uncomfortable, just respectful. Ghost's eyes left the blurry vision that became Johnny. The corpses of his mother, brother, sister in law, nephew, the skull of the grave...they all mixed, applied to the faces he had around him. Ghosts that he carried, as much as a guilt of not being able to save them. Naivety of thinking he had escaped unscathed.
He remembered the words of Pierce, deemed unstable, was he ? Was it that bad to see people as skulls when you had to kill them ? Was it that bad to not seek more than that anymore? It wasn't as if he had an easy life anyway. His hand closed around his gun. Feel something real in his hand. Jaw clenched. Back straight. He did not move for the next hours, until they landed. He was last to get out. Slow , staying behind to always have the bigger picture. That is what he learned from it. Assess more than what the eye met. Or at least he tried. He wasn't doing the talking anyway. That wasn't his thing. Vargas talked, he half listened, His eyes went on Johnny feeling seconds before he opened his mouth that he would say something. "Actually he pr- " "That will do." he dryly cut him off. Not in the mood for any roasting at the moment.
