Smoky Sunset Last Night Over The Olympic Mountains September 7, 2020 Wildfires in Eastern Washington and easterly winds are blowing smoke into Western Washington and creating hazy conditions. Makes for a pretty sunset but poor Air Quality. Some areas in Puget Sound have Air Quality Index ratings of Unhealthy for Sensitive People to Unhealthy for Everyone today. We are still in the Good Air Quality range here on Thunder Ridge in Shelton, WA despite the hazy conditions and smell of smoke in the air. In parts of California, where wildfires are raging, the Air Quality Index is as bad as it gets, with Hazardous ratings in many areas. My heart goes out to everyone battling the terrible wildfires in the Western United States. Sincere thanks and gratitude for the brave firefighters and first responders everywhere who are working so hard to try to control these wildfires and to rescue people in their destructive path.
