Canon XC15 Review
5 Things I like 1. Body Design - handling, rotatable grip, custom buttons, quick exposure controls, touch screen focus 2. Codec - UHD 4K 30p/24p 305Mbps/205Mbps MXF (4:2:2 8-bit IntraFrame) - 1080p/60/30/24 50Mbps at 60p 35Mbps at 30p/24p MXF (4:2:2 8-bit Long-GOP) 3. Canon Log Gamma and Wide DR Gamma 4. Shutter speed control - flicker reduction, switch shutter angle 5. Audio - mic jack, headphone jack
5 Things I don’t like 1. Lens - 24mm-240mm in stills, 27.3mm-273mm in video f/2.8-f/5.6 - terrible in low light, slow focus, 58mm lens mount 2. Sensor - 1” 12MP CMOS in stills, 8.29MP video, not dual pixel, not sensitive - XF400 has 1” 8.29MP CMOS 3. CFast 2.0 cards and No mid level 4:2:0 codecs - no UHD 4K MP4 60/30/24 at 150Mbps, no dual shooting 4. Only 1 level of ND, it’s internal inside menu 5. Useless accessories - XLR module too big, not hot shoe controlled, large cable, not extra cold shoe. Viewfinder too large, doesn’t let you use touch screen.
