well i'm about a third of the way through it now and so far all i'm seeing is 2 asshole people who manipulate other sad people in weird, petty attempts to make each other jealous.
HOWEVER
some of the sentences are really beautiful! that line about dreams going through her brain like wine through water, changing the color of her thoughts?? brilliant.
and sometimes mr lockwood makes me laugh.
but yeah 1800s brit lit tends to run a bit too long for me, even when the ideas are good. (i find the same kind of problem with austen and stevenson)

fun fact i was the baker's wife in a production of into the woods a couple years ago and one of my character study tasks was to name her in order to connect more with the character and i named her rachel :')
