canto 6 is kind of the opposite of canto 4 if you think about it. what if you saw your mirrored self, and instead of being perfect and idealized and everything you wanted to be but couldn't achieve, they were the worst possible version of yourself, a person who had destroyed their life and everyone else's around them trying to punish themself for something that wasn't even their fault? and they wanted to do everything they could to make you turn out exactly like them? instead of pushing you to grow and forge your own path, they were obsessed with punishing you in the exact same way as they punished themself? what if you were the good version, and every other version of yourself ended badly? utterly insane to me. this writing is so peak.
