BREAKING: Luigi Mangione's federal prosecutors won't file an interlocutory appeal for the judge's order to dismiss 2 firearms charges (one of which was death penalty eligible). This means the death penalty is officially forever off the table and the case will proceed as scheduled with the jury selection starting in June.

Interlocutory appeal is an appeal of a trial court's judgement made before a case has concluded - i.e. no final (guilty/innocent) verdict has yet been issued. Such appeals are very rare as appellate courts generally only review final decisions.
