honestly when i was playing a few months ago that was what i kept trying, and now i’m so rusty i need to readjust to the controls before i have a chance

I mean, that's basically what I was saying. And I know I was being ultra specific in my wanting of what I was talking about. And it's true that there's not enough. There's still not enough non-male characters. (Hence my preface.) I won't blame it on lazy writers though. Writing is hard, especially in the industry, so many people pulling the strings behind the scenes that they get very little actual control. And a lot do get into it for the wrong reasons, not because they want to change the world but because they want to be rich or whatever idk. But like, you know, it's their job to write up fantasy worlds where things happen...just look at the majority of fics and how they're focused on sex, partying, drugs. Part of it is art imitating art etc, but part of it is someone exploring a fantasy world. My favorite fics tend to be gen ensamble fics. I just love people supporting each other without any strings attached. And like, talking about lack of male/female friendships on television I DO get you because it IS totally a thing I wish we had more of. Like the only one I can think of right now, that was good and healthy and just love is Hayley&Lucas from OTH. (But, like, there's so many reasons why I love OTH. I like to think that of OTH was being made in this age, they would have a healthy discourse happening w an out queer char and their best friend who might not be into labels (or is having a wibbly wobbly sexuality time), but they're not into each other, they're just figuring life out together.) I would love that. I also understand how incredibly difficult it would be to get something like that past pilot season, let alone get picked up and on air.
