I'm an American Culinary Student. I love food. Seriously before taking my health seriously I could easily consume an entire Pizza, an order of breadsticks, a 2 liter of soda and some brownies then be hungry again in about an hour. Eating healthy is deffinaty not easy at first. I refuse to give up the food I like to this day. I love snacks. And in fact with my busy schedule between Work, Roller Derby and running an Anime Store I snack more then I prepare proper food.
But worry not! This is where portion control comes in play!
This is indeed a picture of my snack cabinet. Slightly empty because I have not gone grocery shopping this week yet. I try to keep all of (or at least most) of my snacks under 150 calories each. As I am currently only allowing myself 1200-1500 calories a day this is crucial. I have compiled a list of the snacks and their calorie counts below.
Vanilla Chex Mix Cereal (good on its own or with milk!) - 120cal ¾ cup
Reesee Puff Cereal (good on its own or with milk!) - 120cal ¾ cup
Graze individual Snack Pack (www.graze.com lots of variety) - 90-230cals
Candy Corn (I sometimes like to eat just 1 or 2 to settle sugar cravings) – 140cal/ 19 pieces
Cheezeits white cheddar Grooves – 130cal
Nature Valley Peanut Butter Biscuits – 190cal
Fiber One Orange Cranberry Baked Bars – 90cal
Special K Cookie & Creme Pastry Crisps – 100cal
Special K Brown Sugar Cinnamon Pastry Crisps - 100cal
Gummys (Star Wars shapped for the husband) – 90cal
Lance Whole Grain Cheddar Cheese Crackers ( I usually only eat ½ the pack at a time for only 100cal) – 200cal
Fiber One Mint Fudge Brownie – 90cal
Stretch Island Fruit Strips - 50cal
Peppermint Puffs - 30cal
Assorted Fun Sized Hershey Chocolate Bars - 50cal
Pretzle Crisps (PERFECT with Hummus!) - 100cal/11 chips
Sweet Potato Chips – 160cal/17 chips
Mini Pop Corn Bags – 100 cal
Pizzelles (Guilty pleasure. You can have quite a few without sacrificing calorie counting) – 20cal / per cookie
And Lastly ...
Assorted Japanese Snacks...
There really are too many of these to list. But on average what I have on hand single pieces of hard candy are around 35cal each while the chips and other treats are 140-200cal per serving.
