CAPABILITY BROWN

c.1716-1783

Lancelot Brown (Capability) is a well-known landscaper. He designed over 170 parks, as well as placing new lakes inside the landscapes. He was born in Kirkharle, Northumberland, England. As he left school he worked as the head gardener's apprentice until it was 23. He then started taking commissions to design landscapes and back sough after. He died in 1783.
