Taste of What’s to Come

Restaurant Week returns this October, but in the meantime get a taste of what’s to come with a simple seasonal salad recipe from chef Anthony Silvestri of longtime Restaurant Week participant, Ocean House. The creaminess of the burrata contrasts with the zippiness of the gingery dressing for a meal that’s as satisfying as it is simple. 

Burrata Salad with Pea Greens and Carrot Miso Dressing

DETAILS

Servings: 1

INGREDIENTS

for the dressing

1 cup carrot juice, reduced from 2 cups

2 garlic cloves

1 teaspoon grated ginger

1/4 cup yellow miso

1/4 cup rice wine vinegar

1 1/2 cups of canola oil

for the salad

1 ounce grated carrot

1 serving of burrata

2 ounces blanched peas

2 ounces spring pea shoots (if this is a tough find, feel free to substitute in-season greens, like arugula or spinach)

DIRECTIONS

for the dressing

Mix all ingredients (except oil) together in a small bowl.

Quickly whisk in canola oil, pouring slowly to emulsify dressing.

to serve

Plate salad ingredients and pour dressing around the salad.

Slice burrata and serve.

Catching Up at The Barley Neck Inn

This week, we’re catching up with the talented team behind six-time Cape Cod Restaurant Week participant, The Barley Neck Inn.  A small independently owned resort based in an old sea captain's home in the rural village of East Orleans, the Barley Neck Inn is home to one of Yankee Magazine’s top ten restaurants on the Cape and has also received praise from both the Boston Globe and USA Today. General Manager Ashley Stucenski and Head Chef Will Hollinger tell us what is in store for this season’s Restaurant Week....

So, what keeps you returning to Cape Cod Restaurant Week season after season?  

It's a great way to see old friends and meet new customers.

What has inspired you while planning your Restaurant Week menu? 

Featuring a few new creations and some of our guest's favorites too.

What are your favorite local ingredients to work with? Will you be featuring them on the Restaurant Week menu? 

We love working with fresh, local seasonal produce and shellfish.  Yes, they will be featured on the restaurant week menu.

The braised short ribs. I really love classic comfort foods, and the short ribs are as good as it gets!

Live music and entertainment seem to be a component at The Barley Neck Inn- how do you think it adds to the dining experience?

People really love to know that they can count on the BNI for entertainment year round.  During the winter months, we have the bands play a little earlier on Friday evenings, and our customers love that it gives them an excuse to stay out a little longer with their friends and families.

What are some other interesting tid-bits that many people might not know about the restaurant?  

We offer a wide variety of gluten-free selections and always try to work closely with out guests to accommodate any and all dietary needs.
