It was the betterment of emotions that caused him to jump in the frey with the Dark Knight. It caused him to distrust a better opinion and instead listen to the very beat of his heart ( it can't sit on the sidelines and watch ) the bruises on his chest and the blood seeping from the wound on his arm mean shit compared to what could have happened if he never stepped in.
Bruce is strong. Really strong. But there's a worry in Tim that one day he won't be strong enough --- and a bigger worry that when that day comes Tim won't be strong enough.
