Sometimes a ghost dog can still be a good boy.

The spectral black dog that is said to reside in Westmorland and parts of Yorkshire is called Capelthwaite. This canine acts more dog-like than others of its kind and is said to haunt the area on which the Capelthwaite barn stands - from which it got its name. It is said that this animal could appear as any quadruped but preferred the form of a large, black dog. As legend goes, the canine was very kind to those who lived on its land and it would assist the farmers with herding sheep. However, Capelthwaite was aggressive toward trespassers and was eventually banished by a vicar.
