Ryuji simply had his arm draped around the taller teen’s shoulder, an action he didn’t see as being anything worth wild. It was an act he did with almost, if not all, his friends. But his teammate’s words made it so he was suddenly hyper-aware of just how close he was to Yusuke, how the harmless touch to him was breaking boundaries for most Japanese people.

❝ Sorry man, I didn’t mean to get all up in your face. ❞

Yusuke had been a bit surprised at how casually Ryuji had placed his arm around his shoulders; the warmth was pleasant though. He knew that is was meant as a friendly gesture but somehow his heart was still racing and his face flushed with colour.

“Oh..n-no.. I wasn’t complaining. It’s..so nice..” Yusuke mumbled, wondering if Ryuji would yell at him if he leaned against him just that little more.

Training with Ryuji was always an experience. Sometimes it was just them running around the school. Something to keep them in shape and work off some of the energy that they’d stored up when they didn’t have a reason to go to Mementos or a Palace. Those days were fine, dodging his former teammates and trying their hardest to actually push their limits. Other days... not so easy. Ryuji found days where he needed to push himself to exhaustion and Akira was often taken along for the ride; his friend forgetting that it’d been something like a year since he’d had anything to do with sports.

Today was one of the latter days, their leader on his knees in the grass and trying desperately to pull in enough air so that he didn’t feel like he was going to pass out.

“ S-seriously... one of these days you are going to kill me. Morgana won’t have anyone to feed him and how are you guys gonna make it without all the treasure I find? “
