While you guys were tormenting me in my inbox, I was working on yet another Kirby OC.

Meet my cottagecore-inspired Cappy girl, Clarice!

This mushroom woman may seem pleasant and unproblematic on the outside, but in reality, she’s the main reason why the people of Dream Land tend to avoid the forest…

The tale of Clarice has been passed down from parent to child time and time again. A strange humanoid Cappy who once got lost as she was on her morning walk through the forests of Dream Land. She had wandered in just a little too deep, for she had found herself trapped within a maze of trees, and was never able to find her way out.

No one came looking for her. No travelers came passing by.

Clarice was forced to make the forest her new home.

During her time of isolation, she grew mad. She longed for company more than anything.

If any forest wanderer were to pass her by, she would kindly welcome them with open arms, only to get more hostile towards them as they tried to leave her.

…

This is Clarice’s “Poison Mushroom” form, something she can switch to and from due to all the poisonous aspects of nature the forest had exposed her to.

With this, she’s able to take others under her control.

“Stay away from the forest,” mothers would warn their children. “You wouldn’t want to cross paths with Clarice… or even worse, become her.”

I’m considering an AU in which the Triple Deluxe Trio (Kirby, Dedede, and Taranza) venture out into the forest to see if Clarice really DOES exist, but I’ll save that for when I have a lot more time on my hands.
