Prince Linvar: Of lace and lilypads
Prince Linvar redwind is an interesting character in both design and role, his appearance in both fashion and body is feminine to the point of being misgendered as a woman. When talking to other royals he deepens his voice to command respect while when stressed it goes higher and even cracks, only when he’s with people he’s close with that his natural cadence comes out.
From the way he carries himself to how he’s dressed it’s a tug of war of him wanting to be seen as a capable king to his people and family at the cost of his true self and feeling.
While his design is feminine it doesn’t mean that he’s weak, far from it. Trained by both his mother Attea and looma he's skilled in swordsmanship and hand to hand combat, using his Incursean traits he’s able to leap and dodge with ease.
His fight moves invoke the feeling of watching a ballet or a waltz, the way he leaps and lunges, even in his stance with his feet moving from first to second position.
In a way Lin invokes the archetype of both prince charming and the damsel in distress.
While not in physical distress he does have bouts of mental and emotional distress, lashing out at his servants and training dummy, denying help as to not look weak, even going on overblown rants about little things.
In a way to not show vulnerability he put in an air of pomp and arrogance that shield him from his self doubt at the cost of being seen as a spoiled prince.
Lin’s inspirations are on his sleeves being Princess Sapphire (Princess knight, 1953), Lady Oscar (The rose of Versailles, 1972) and lastly Utena Tenjou (Revolutionary Girl Utena, 1997).
The common denominator of the three series is that of gender identity, while Linvar himself is comfortable with his femininity and is open about being male due to the femmephobic and possibly biphobic regards of people can he only show a small part of it. The dichotomy of duty and desire also causes him strife, his duty to exhibit qualities of courage, dominance, and strength as a prince conflict with his desire to live out his feminine desires.
Despite this Linvar sees being a prince as a responsible burden that he needs to bear on his own. With this burden he copes with it by excessive training, lavish parties, and even having a “scandalous” relationship with someone from a lower class a.k.a. Lucius.
Which brings us to his relationship with Lucius. In the beginning Lucius and Linvar relationship was fun and feverish, but as time went on it was clear that Lin only saw him for amusement and physical attractiveness rather than personal merit or substance. Buying Lucius haircuts and clothes in the guises of gifts as a way to maintain his appearance, showing him off to other royals, and belittling him both intentionally and unintentionally.
It all boils over to where Lucius leaves him a dear john letter rather than facing him in person, in which Linvar bottled up his anger and sorrow to make it as if it doesn’t bother when it deeply does. Hiding those regrets in a veneer of snobbish pettiness and extravagant ego.
To him admitting his mistakes and regrets would be like revealing weakness, one of things he doesn’t want to do but needs to.
It’s not until he sees Lucius again do his old mistakes creep up on the surface, rather than meeting him in equal terms he talks down to him and acts petty. Meanwhile Lucius matches his energy by acting like he does not regret breaking up with him which is half false. Both boys not wanting to back down and admit their faults end up as pseudo-rivals.
At times they’ll argue about menial things like who’s plan is better or where to pitch a tent, but when push comes out shove they’ll defend each other from enemies and cheer each other on when challenges rise to the occasions. Little by little their true feelings for each other are shown but both brush it off in a way to save face.
In a sense they both show the others strengths and faults, with Lucius showing him actual hospitality and Lin defending him against the odds. A knight and his prince.

Prince linvar and lucius were once in a romance relationship with each other. Things were okay until Lucius noticed the way that Lin treated him less like a person and more like a novelty, more problems gotten piled up til the boiling point in which lucius wrote Lin a simple break up letter leading to the prince to hold a somewhat grudge.
but the more they hang out with each other the more the spark comes back.
Like sometimes they'll have stupid arguments while other times they'll hype/defend each other.
in short exes to friends to lovers
This picture tell their dynamic the best
40, 22, and 16 - Royal Ruffians
40. Who sleeps on the couch? can either of them sleep without the other?
-Lucius usually does he's used to it. As for the other question it's difficult at times.
22. What’s their go-to breakup/angst song?
-For Linvar it's don't walk away from xanadu while for Lucius it's 'are you lonesome tonight?' by elvis presley.
16. Do either of them have a special item (an article of clothing, a necklace, a book) that they use when they miss the other? if so, what is it? what do they do with it (read, wear, look at, smell)?
-Lucius has ticket stubs to some stuffy opera he doesn't remember the name of, Lin took him there but he slept through half of it. He keep them on the back of a book and look at them.
meanwhile Linvar has an extra large stained t-shirt from a motor racing event, Lucius told him to dress casual and he came looking like this. He got lin the shirt from the gift shop to put over his outfit and food as well, he placed the shirt deep in the closet and would wear it taking in the nostalgic scent and feel.
If Linvar was casted in a classic shakespeare play he would be perfect as Orsino from Twelfth Night immediately.
Passionate (Kinda obsessive) deeply in love, closeted bisexual, speaks in prose even for a Shakespearean character. His noble frame but sensible and romantic disposition makes him a perfect character for him, if he's able to pull from his own sensibilities and pompousness. Plus, I'm sure he'll have fun with him :3
8. Method of Transportation Lucius (Both Cappyverse and Lunaverse) 😈
Both Lucius favorite method of Transportation is their modified motorcycle/car because he can control the speed and it's his work of art.
while their least favorite is the public bus due to people kinda looking at him funny like.
