So I just got to the credits of Hades 2 and witnessed the ending firsthand

I HAVE THOUGHTS. MY GOD DO I HAVE THOUGHTS. I totally get why everyone is getting their knickers in a twist about this because I sat there in disbelief and feeling utterly flummoxed watching it unfold. I have... many, many thoughts about this, and I didn't even play early access! I'm having a completely fresh and unbiased experience here and even I'M like "oh this was rushed and executed questionably wasn't it?" I can't imagine what it must be like to have speculated for the past 8+ months about how this game will tie its loose threads together... and then receive this. Yeah. Oof. I have sympathy for you guys.

I'm still in love with this game despite the ending! It absolutely excells in both its gameplay and its soundtrack, and I'll continue to play it for the foreseeable future. However: HOLY SHIT, Melinöe deserved better. This woman needs therapy. One thing that gives me the smallest bit of relief, the tiniest silver lining, is knowing the community and fandom will (or maybe already have) create some top tier fanfiction and art for me to enjoy. If this ending doesn't spur some spite-induced, god-tier fix-it/alternate universe writing, then I don't know what will. Melinöe is genuinely the perfect tragedy material now lmao. It would be very easy to say "actually, she isn't doing well after the ending at all and here's what happens" and run off with that concept.

Anyway... I would say more right now but I physically can't. I gotta let this simmer and marinate in my head for a bit. Screams.
